Disrupting the Status Quo with Wellbore Tubular Technology

/Portals/1/Images/IEnergyImages/Publishing/RobelloSamuel.jpgIn a recent Technology Focus article (June 2017 issue of SPE’s Journal of Petroleum Technology (JPT)) on Wellbore Tubulars, Robello Samuel, PhD and Technology Fellow of Halliburton, discusses technological advances in the tubular area. He highlights what’s been achieved to date, from manufacturing best practices to sensor connectivity via data transmission networks, and what will soon be possible with emerging technologies, such as brazing the connection and ultimately replacing casing tongs with auto-welding tongs, to reduce NPT.

Dr. Samuels also notes advancements in the prediction of torque and drag, while recognizing there are still challenges to address.
