/Portals/1/Images/IEnergyImages/Publishing/Seismic_Simulation%20Consistency_resized.jpgA high-fidelity seismic to reservoir simulation solution, developed by Landmark and CGG as part of a 4D technical collaboration, is illustrated in a synthetic, mature field scenario. The employed solution is robust and can be executed in either the time or depth domain for the benefit of interdisciplinary workflow collaboration. While primarily intended for reservoir engineers, the solution can also provide value to petrophysicists, geologists, and geophysicists. This workflow comprises:



  • performing seismic inversion
  • evaluating the correlation between seismic inversion and petrophysical properties
  • collocating the distribution of petrophysical properties with the seismic inversion
  • using petro-elastic modeling (PEM) to relate the flow simulation response to dynamic elastic properties 

The motivation of the workflow is the identification and exploitation of bypassed pay with the requisite purpose of examining infill drilling potential. The early consideration of an integrated, multi-disciplinary workflow minimizes upscaling ambiguities and resampling artifacts typically found in classical, silo-based workflows. It also introduces a mechanism by which geophysics and reservoir engineering can be combined.
