Fault QC – A powerful visualization technique for picking faults from 3D seismic

Fault interpretation starts with visualizing fault delineation attributes like discontinuity/semblance on a time/depth slice or horizon slice, where you accurately assess and interpret the fault strike - lateral extents. These horizontal segments are used as a guide that enables DecisionSpace® Geoscience (DSG) to transform the tedious manual process of picking vertical fault segments into an automated Fault QC display.

From a selected horizontal fault segment displaying in views, the software automatically creates multiple section panels that are perpendicular to the fault strike. The vertical fault segments can now be appraised and picked confidently on the seismic sections showing the optimal seismic images of the selected fault.

Furthermore, you can easily re-create the Fault QC display from the interpreted vertical fault segments for additional adjustments. The DSG software automatically builds the QC display based on the length of each individual segment.

In summary, Fault QC enables you to quickly evaluate and interpret a fault on the optimal seismic section along its pre-defined length, and provides an efficient way to validate and refine the previous interpretation. Enjoy more accurate and faster fault interpretation!
